Question: What are the general types of anesthesia used for surgical procedures. I can never remember which I have issues with. I believe its the mask one as when I wake up I am very very ill. It runs in the family to react that way to this type of sedation. The "shot" one works great as I had that for hernia surgery and when I woke up it was just like I'd been asleep and no groggieness nausea vomiting or other issues.....walked right out of surgery center. I may have to have gall bladder surgery and want to make sure I ask if I can have the same type of sedation for it. please advise

Brief Answer:
That's the decision of anesthesiologist

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

Main types of anesthesia are general, local, spinal, epidural, just IV administration of mild sedative.

As you have allergy with one of the inhalational agent that you don't know. But you are comfortable with intravenous anesthesia, So you can go with that. So that he will prefer intravenous anesthesia. Generally some are allergic to chloroform, diethyl ether that were used previously. I will suggest you to inform anesthesist regarding that, so he will take proper decision. kindly follow if any query.

I think this will clarify your concerns. Take care.

Thank you.
