What Are The Effects Of Overuse Of Nasivion Nasal Drops?

default
Posted on Fri, 23 Jan 2015
Question: Could you please help in understanding the effects of overuse (2 drops in each nostril, twice a day, for the past one month) of Nasivion nasal drops on our son (age 2 and half months).

Doctor had suggested to use this only for four days. We mistook that it can be used regularly instead of Nasoclear.

Except for khur khur nasal sounds, our son is doing fine and is feeding well.

Brief Answer:
Prolonged use of Nasivion drops causes nasal congestion

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to Healthcaremagic
Greetings of the day
Dear Mr XXXXXXX

Nasivion drop drop acts by causing contraction of nasal blood vessel and reduces nasal congestion. Prolonged use may cause rebound increase nasal congestion.

As the child is fine , I would suggest you to discontinue the use of the drops and avoid it's use in near future.

Do get back to me if you need any further assistance, will be glad to assist you.

Take care
