Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Welcome to Ask a Doctor service!

Your symptoms seem to be suggestive of local inflammation (probably arthritis), especially if only one ankle is swollen.

For this reason, I would recommend consulting with your attending physician for a physical exam, an X- Ray of the swollen ankle and some blood lab tests (complete blood count, PCR, ESR for inflammation, uric acid plasma levels, calcium and vitamin D plasma levels).

In the meantime, I would recommend avoiding standing up position or walking and taking ibuprofen against inflammation.

Hope to have been helpful!

Wishing good health,
