Suggest Treatment For Yellowish Pus Discharge From A Wound Near The Umbilical Area

Question: hi... previously i had asked about my mother's wound (abscess near umbilical area - insulin injection site - size ~ 2x2 cm) . she completed cap cloxacillin 500mg qid for 5 days and then continue with c.cefuroxime 250mg tdg for 3 days and lastly c. cephalexin 500mg bd for 7 days... antibiotics finish 2 days ago. initially there was yellowish pus discharge from the wound but it change to yellowish serous discharge aftet start antibiotics. i help her do the normal saline dressing 2 time everyday and put on fucidin cream after each dressing but.... after finish the antibiotics 2 days ago.. the discharge become more thicker with yellowish color.. i think it become pus again and what must i do now to help her?

dear dr.. my mother did not show any other symptoms such as fever, pain etc. her random blood sugar range from 8 to 15mmol/l but sometime 2-3 times 20mmol/l (currently on actrapid 30 units tds n insulatard 30 units on night). here i attached the picture of her wound. does she need to start on any other antibiotics? is the wound in very poor condition?

* Recommendations for you

- Must visit consultant surgeon and this requires debridement of the slough ,
dead unhealthy tissue in form of minor surgery on day care basis .
- During that procedure doctor will take pus for culture report and further
course of antibiotics are advisable in accordance with that only .
- Till then keep the part clean and blood sugar under control .
