Brief Answer:
different possible causes

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Sweating can occur with or shortly after the common cold.

There are different possible causes. Some of the more common causes are:

(1) Side effect of medication eg the decongestants that help with nasal symptoms, can cause sweating.
It can also occur with some antibiotics.

(2) Fever

(3) Illness itself due to reduced functioning capacity so small exertions can cause sweating

(4) Abnormal levels of thyroid hormone- this hormone plays a major role in the body's functioning.
Its levels can become abnormal in an acute(recent onset) illness. They normalize within weeks after the illness has resolved.

In most persons, the symptoms resolve with or soon after the cold. It is not an indicator of a serious infection or complications.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
