Suggest Treatment For Senile Purpura

Question: i have senile purpura and when i scratch my arm i have a blast of those ugly purple areas all over my forearm never my legs or corps just the arms the md gave me a compounded capsule containing amino acids and some other "secret med" surely there is some ungt to dissolve this.I only take 2 rx meds and have been on them 20 yrs one is for add the other for pain in my hands i had a spleenectomy in 1969 and other than a 6 mos tx of medrol inj into joints of both hands there isnt anything else i can tell you 2 ferral cats eat here every pm and thats all basically i go to the beach very often and this ugly thing is ruining my only pleasure wearing a long sleeved shirt over my bathing suit is not attractive i need to get rid of it

Thanks for your query.

You would know that there is no specific treatment for the purpura. Most vasculitis do present with itching one of the annoying symptom which on scratching does cause purplish lesions thats why the name Purpura.

You can take a dose of antihistaminic whenever there is itching this can provide you relief to some extent. Also do apply sunscreen lotion if you are stepping out as majority of the symptoms in purpura are due to sun burn in those areas.
