Brief Answer:
viral cold

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

You are complaining of a scratchy throat and you noticed one white dot on your tonsil. This could mean you have strep throat but with only one small dot I am inclined to believe this is more than likely just a viral illness. The one small dot is likely a concretion in your tonsil. These are very common caused by food debris getting into the small crypts of your tonsil. They do not have any pathological significance.

After say that if you develop increased sore throat and the white patch enlarges you may have strep throat and I would recommend being seen by your medical provider. Strep throat needs antibiotics and can be screened with a simple throat swab.
