Question: Can food poisoning reactive a UTI that reoccurred 4-5 times in late 2014 to the fall of 2015? I believe I ate some bad deli roast beef on Christmas Eve and was in very bad pain for about 10 days. Did not go to the doctor because our family practice dropped us when I forgot to pay a $120 XXXXXXX Yesterday I ate shrimp and chicken gumbo and almost immediately became nauseated and the pain has returned. No fever, nor the last time, unlike the first time when I shot up to 103.5. My husband thinks I am faking...

Brief Answer:
Unlikely for food poisoning to reactivate UTI!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this food poisoning and the associated symptoms. Symptoms shortly after eating food especially not cooked at home is pretty typical for food poisoning. However, food poisoning will not cause a UTI. To determine whether you have a UTI, please report any changes in the frequency, quantity or color of your urine and whether there is any pain during urination. Even if this ends up to be a UTI, these events would be purely coincidental and not related to each other. I am sorry to hear your husband doesn't believe your symptoms are real, do not allow yourself to be disturbed by that.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be. Above all, thanks for using our services.
