Suggest Treatment For Pressure In Genital Area And UTI

default
Posted on Mon, 13 Apr 2015
Question: Hi, I am nearly 10 weeks pregnant. I have had 2 courses of antibiotics to treat a uti. As a result, I got thrush. I was provided a canestan pessery to use to treat it. I used it two nights ago, but today have notice some light pink creamy discharge. Is this something that I should be concerned about or a sign of miscarriage? It should also be noted that I had sex with my partner for the first time in weeks on Sunday? I don't have any cramping... Just pressure and a stretching sensation.

Brief Answer:
Can be due to pessary use.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
The light pink creamy discharge can happen after the use of the pessary. It can be due to the vaginal infection itself. It is not likely to be due to a miscarriage.
The mild pressure and stretching in the lower abdomen can be due to the vaginal infection or a urinary infection. It is best to take rest and let the discharge subside on its own.
In case the discharge continues then you need to consult your gynecologist. An ultrasound examination will help in detecting the well being of the baby.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.
Regards.
