Brief Answer:
Hi, welcome to HCM, Inflammation is swelling.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, welcome to HCM, Inflammation is swelling. When there is an injury, the body pours healing material into the area. This causes the inflammation. It is a good response by the body. But sometimes it overdoes it and we have discomfort/pain because of it. I am sure your doctor would already have advised ---rest, strapping, ice fomentation 10 mts, followed by hot fomentation followed by gentle rub with a pain balm. Give it time, you will be ok. Regards
