Suggest Treatment For Hard Lump On Centre Of Chest

default
Posted on Fri, 26 Sep 2014
Question: Hi I am a 41 year old Male. I have a hard lump in the centre of my chest and a lot of pain in that region. I visited my family doctor a week ago who examined me and stated I had acid reflux and prescribed some meds.

I however am unsure of this diagnosis. I have read that a symptom of acid reflux is heart burn, which I have had none. Furthermore this has been the most painful experience I have ever had and now this hard lump which is about 2 inches in diameter and is located between my nipples. The tabs for acid reflux seemed to have no affect either.

Brief Answer:
infective aetiology.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome to Health care magic.
Dr Ganesh.

A hard lump in between the nipple area measuring about 2 inches in measurements and pain symptoms - suggest me some infective aetiology.

Most possible cause could be hair follicle infection with some collection with in causing pain. This can be treated with a course of antibiotic along with pain killers.

But need to confirm the diagnosis with an ultrasound of lump / lesion - ultrasound is a excellent tool to evaluate the nature of the lump ( solid, cystic, mass) and its source where it is arising from and the lesion / lump extensions.

So depending on findings the treatment can be given. Some times a FNAC - fine needle aspiration cytology ( a small needle sample from the lump) to find out the cells of pathology.

So you can proceed in this way. Get a scan done and needful treatment depending on findings. Good luck.

Hope it helps you. Wish you a good health.
