Brief Answer:
Weed Withdrawal

Detailed Answer:
Hello thanks for asking from Health Care Magic

Fortunately it is easy to withdraw from weed (marijuana or cannabis) as compared to other drugs. He is having severe cough and anxiety. I would like to advise you following things to ease withdrawal-

- For cough symptoms mucinex is good enough. The symptoms will go in few days. Guaifenesine is main constituent of mucinex and it is a good cough suppressant. Still it no relief occur with this then try opioid free cough dependence. Chlofedanol is a OTC product that can help.

- For ease of anxiety medicines like Clonidine in 0.1 mg can be used. The drug is free of serious side effects and is also free of abuse potential. It will help in easing the anxiety and will help in sleep also.

- Most common complication of chronic weed use is amotivational syndrome. The syndrome can persist even long after stopping the drug. Try to provide him warm support, good nutrition and loving care. Don't label him as addict instead think that addiction is also a disease like other diseases. Medicines like Modafinil can improve his alertness and day time motivation.

- In most cases withdrawal symptoms are only mild because weed don't cause physical dependence. It cause only psychological dependence so motivation enhancement sessions with a psychologist will help him.

Consult a psychiatrist for proper prescriptions of drugs.

Thanks, hope this helps you.
