default
Posted on Mon, 9 Jun 2014
Question: I have chronic Lyme disease, chronic fatigue syndrome, cerebral spinal fluid leak and had a LLMD but he is retired and he had me on 3000 mg of Amoxicillin for 4 months. My family doctor stopped me as it was affecting my nervous system so i have panic attacks when I must face going to the doctor. Is thee any thing else I can try. I went to the UK to a doctor who can cure chronic fatigue but he will not treat anyone who has Lyme disease. He advised me to try Noni juice but after all the homeopathic drugs I have tried nothing helps me.

Brief Answer:
Medications are of limited use in CFS.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for posting your query.

I have noted your symptoms. It is unfortunate that you are suffering from chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) along with Lyme disease.

It is not easy to treat the combination of the two.

Also, I would like to point out that medications are of limited benefit in CFS. The effective medications include the antidepressants such as escitalopram.

The most useful treatments are cognitive behaviour therapy (a form of psychological treatment), graded exercise therapy (a form of mild exercise) and pacing (an energy management strategy to avoid over-exertion).

I hope my reply has helped you.

I would be pleased to answer, if you have any follow up queries or if you require any further information.
