Question: Hello, My question is about my 47 year old son, who is ESRD. He had bilateral calcanectomies 2 years ago and is almost ready to transition to orthotics and shoes. He has neuropathy almost to his knees. The question is - for a few days he showed redness on top of his calf under his prafo protective boot. It looked like sunburn. Last night he developed a 99.0temperature. Today the redness showed some blistering and his temperature XXXXXXX to 99.6 . Also, a small, healed wound area on his "heel" opened up very slightliy, but is dry. What might these symptoms mean, so I can converse with His Dr. or emergency room staff

Brief Answer:
Infection likely.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The mild rise in temperature, redness and blistering are all suggestive of an infection in the area. This needs proper antibiotics for treatment.
You need to consult his doctor for proper examination and systemic broad spectrum antibiotics to combat these symptoms.
I hope this answers your query.
