Suggest Treatment For An Abrasion On The Cornea

Question: I scratched my cornea…I can see it,it burns a little and is mildly painful…I have flushed it with sterile saline…Do I need to go to urgent care?

Yes, I recommend that you go to the Urgent Care or ER where they can put a bit of fluorescein on your tears and be able to see the size and depth of the abrasion. They will likely give you an antibiotic for your eye too.

Usually corneal abrasions are very painful, so either this is a mild abrasion or you have a high pain threshold. But it's best to get it checked out.
