Brief Answer:
Minoxidil lotion and clonate cream can be used

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for being at healthcaremagic
I have gone through your complaints and understand your concern.
Limited alopecia areata is best treated with intralesional steroid injections at intervals of 3-4 weeks. If you want to avoid injection you can try topical medication.
Out of the medicines you have mentioned minoxidil lotion can be used on the affected areas at night and clonate cream can be used on the affected bald areas in the morning. Minoxidil doesn't have much side effects apart from redness, itching and dryness in few individuals.
There is no need to take follihair tablet.
Himalaya hair zone spray won't be effective in the treatment of alopecia areata.

Please note that everywhere it is said that minoxidil 5% has to be used twice daily,so clarify.i HAVE heard that minoxidil, once discontinued caused one to revert back to pre treatment status. Also that in the initial period of use,it aggravates the alopaecia.

With regard to Himalaya hairzone, the container says that it is for alopecia,so please clarify the doubt

Also what about the follifast lotion--do i continue or not

Brief Answer:
Minoxidil doesn't cause these problems in alopecia areata

Detailed Answer:
Minoxidil has to be used twice daily for male pattern baldness ( androgenetic alopecia ) and not for alopecia areata.
Minoxidil on discontinuation leads to pretreatment status in male pattern baldness. In alopecia areata it doesn't cause the same problem.
It won't aggravate alopecia on the already bald patches.
Himalaya hair zone is recommended for cases of alopecia associated with nutritional deficiencies, thyroid disorders or other causes of diffuse hair loss and not for alopecia areata.
You need not use folifast once you are using minoxidil lotion.

Although I am sure it is alopecia aerta and not male pattern baldness,I want to be sure. The hair loss is onthe right side behind the ear and also adjancent to it between the top of the skull and the ear.

Also i have a few final queries:

1.minoxidil 2 or 5 percent and in what form--foam or lotion. Is mintop okay or some other brand?

2.So should I start off with minoxidil evening and clonate morning.Nothing more to be taken ? Does minoxidil stain the pillow.

3.After how many days/weeks do i get back to you

4.people say rubbing ginger on the scalp helps.Should it/could it be also tried or should i stay away from such advice.

5.Can i simultaneously take homeopathy for the ailment.actually i am taking it for something else and they say that it incorporates every problem as a whole

6.What oil to use after bath,Currently i use keo karpin,Should i switch over to something else

7.Shampoo to be done or not/conditioner also. What brand to use

8.Any foods to avoid or to add to my diet?

9.Since the area appaers visible from a distance, can i use a black herbal mehndi to XXXXXXX my hair so that the scalp also becomes less visible?currently the hairs near the area appear lighter and hence are visible prominently

10.i am also uploading a photo of the affected area

Details below

Detailed Answer:
I have reviewed the attached photograph and it looks like alopecia areata.
You need to use minoxidil 5 percent lotion. Mintop forte 5 percent is fine.
Yes you can go for minoxidil in the evening and clonate in the morning. Nothing more is required.
Minoxidil won't stain the pillow.
You need to continue the medicines for atleast 4 weeks before reverting to me.
You should not rub ginger on the scalp as it can cause an irritant reaction.
You can take homeopathic medicine simultaneously.
You can go for coconut oil after bath but avoid using it when you are using minoxidil.
You can go for any regular shampoo or conditioner as they don't have any role in alopecia areata.
Take a balanced diet.
No need to avoid any food.
Yes you can go ahead with the herbal mehendi.
