Question: I am 82 years old. I suffer from severe headaches at the right side of my head and the top of my head. In the morning when I wake I am often getting nosebleeds, although not too heavy. My headaches are getting worse. I have arthritis in my neck which probably contributes.

Hi
I am Dr Mittal.
I have read your message.
I think I can help you.
The symptoms of the query are quite suggestive of a possible intracranial lesion.
I would an MRI BRAIN to confirm that you get a MRI BRAIN tested to confirm the diagnosis.
Treatment will depend on the reports.
I have tried to make it as simple as possible. I hope that the information contained in this message will be able to help you find the best solution for your problem. Best of luck. Dr Mittal.

Is there any other option as my mum does not want to go for an MRi scan.Is there any other alternative option. What could happen if she does not go for an MRI?Also cluster headaches have been mentioned. She has mentioned these symptoms to
her doctors who has said she has just have to get on with it, and said it would only mean more medication otherwise.

Brief Answer:
Specific information

Detailed Answer:
If she's not willing for MRI a simple CAT scan of the brain with contrast may help. The view is to know why she's developing headaches. So it's not like she will improve by just doing the scan. The scan may give us a specific direction and treatment can be given according to the reports.

As for cluster headache, I think he is right. the headaches are usually so short that no medicine will help. Inhalation oxygen is the best solution for cluster headache.
