Question: Hi

My eyes have gradually decreased in acuity. Hyper light sensitive and Flashing spot daily and decreased blurry side vision. I feel dizzy and straining eyes with a speckled vision. Last year had eye exam and dr said all exams shows no inflammation or causes. It's gradually worsening and can barely see at night. I am a migraine aura sufferer but never had chronic visual Impairment
As of now Could this be autoimmune or associated disease. I wear sunglasses do to the severe after images in lighting. Is this normal for a migraines history? I never experienced this before.

Brief Answer:
Migraine doesn't cause chronic vision impairment.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.

I have read your question and understand your concerns.

Visual impairment caused, or associated with migraine headaches is usually short lasting and not a chronic problem.

Retinal migraine, a rare kind of migraines, affects one eye not both.

Aura usually lasts minutes and visual function is restored fully after it.

If you are experiencing gradual chronic visual impairment, other causes should be assessed.

Conditions that affect eye sight especially at night include vitamin A deficiency, zinc deficiency, diabetes, and eyes diseases such retinitis pigmentosa.

I suggest you to consult again with your Ophtalmologist, in order to compare vision status after a year and to be checked about above mentioned conditions.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Greetings.
