Suggest Remedies For A Hypertrophic Red Scar On Face

Question: I have a 1 cm square hypertropic red scar on face .applying hexilak gel for 2 months , I dont see a major difference in the appearance of the scar.Should I continue with this or check for some other cream or treatment.? My scar is 6 months old.

I understand your concern
A hypertrophic scar is a cutaneous condition in which deposits of excessive amounts of collagen during healing process.
It will resolves gradually in 4-6 months.
Silicone gel (hexilak) is the most accepted modality for the treatment.
Massage with silicone gel 2-3 times daily and then apply silicon sheet over them.
You can also apply epigen moisturizer cream.
Continue same treatment for next 2-3 months.
If It will not responds, then you should try different modalities of treatment.

Thanks for you response Doctor.

1.Is there anyother treatment that you can suggest me that will show promised improvement in a month or 2?
2.Is Mederma a good product to use along with Hexilak?
3.Which is the best approach to treat this type of scars.

I have a life event in four months , I would like to atleast the change the colour of the scar by that time.I am from XXXXXXX , Please let me know If there is cosmetology centres where I can go for a consultation.

Along with silicone gel you can use following alternative approach:
1.Topical application of gel that contain extract of Allium cepae, allantoin, and heparin.
2. Pressure garments.

Mederma is also good product. But should use after consulting the cosmetologist.

In your case, silicone gel and above mention alternative treatment is best treatment approach.

You can consult the apollo cosmetic center in XXXXXXX for better management.
