Question: On September 13, 2017 I fell, broke my hip and on the 14th I had my hip repaired. Per the Orthopedic surgeon, as I washaving terrible pain in my right and left leg, on the knee caps., he said orthopedically I was fine on examination and he felt that I had physical neurothopy, and he reassigned me back to my family doctor. He concurred and has tried several meds for pain to no avail. Neurotin and Lyrica. I have been using Alleve---no go. I am in horrific pain, especially at night when I finally get into bed. also, while I was in the Nursing Home they discovered a clot on the leg where the surgery was completed. Since October, I have had tests and exams checking for clots, but all was AOK, and that particular clot has cleared and been fine. Note: I was placed on a blood thinner and I have about 4 or 5 pills left, and when I have completed that script I will be placed on baby aspirins daily. I am experiencing swollen extremities, the hip where that surgery was performed seems to be doing well, but it has the most swelling...quite a lot. I am not a diabetic for your info, but I do not know where to go from here. Please advise!!! By the way, the thinner I am on is Xurelto (not sure of spelling). I had to have a Cysto with Botox as I have been incontinent since the surgery. PLEASE HELP ME.!!!! Thank you! I have an app with Urologist On April 23, 2017 re the Cysto. It seems to have improved my wetting situation, but he told me it takes about 14 days to see if they were able to help the incontinence. My email address is down below. Any questions, please feel free to write me.

Brief Answer:
Possible venous thrombosis

Detailed Answer:
Hello Ma'am

I can certainly understand your concern

I have worked through your attached query in detail

Swollen extremities in your case could possibly indicate ongoing thrombosis in the veins.

It's advisable to consider an duplex Ultrasound of both lower limbs to rule out active blood clots. Also it's advisable to check PT INR( prothrombin time) to assess the effectiveness of anticoagulant therapy.

Further management if any is largely based on test results.
