Question: My wife had a Uterine prolapse and had a ring inserted. It has been changed twice over the past 12 months. Yesterday she visited our local hospital and the Gynecologist removed the ring and advised her she no longer needed it! Will this re occur or is it possible that the condition has healed itself permanently! She had requested surgery to permanently fix the problem?

Brief Answer:
Surgery will permanently solve the problem.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor's service.
I read your query and here is my advice.

The uterine prolapse doesn't heal itself using pessary or ring as you refer.
Pesarries are used to help support uterus and bladder and prevent it from prolapsing.
Surgery is the definitive treatment and will resolve this problem.
She may require to use pessary again.

Hope I have answered the question.
