Question: My son is finishing a treatment of Ciprofloxacin which was given to him for extreme paid while urinating. He took his last pill today. In he last 3 days in has had severe headache and body aches along with very sensitive skin. He says in cannot function or drive. He has tired to get a referral from his primary doctor with no luck. Is this all a side effect of the drug or does he have an underlying problem. He also went to the ER and they said he needs to finish the drug treatment. He's very trustrated. Help please

Thanks for query .

Based o the facts that you have posted burning while urinating ,body ache ,head ache that your son is having is due to UTI .

Get your routine urine test and urine culture done to find out the organisms causing this infection and antibiotics to which they are sensitive to.

Take broad spectrum antibiotics like Cefixime along with urinary antiseptic like Nitrofurantoin twice daily and urine alkaliser thrice daily.Later on switch on to appropriate antibiotics as per culture report.

Get the prescription of medicines from your family Physician.

Ensure he drinks more water to keep urine dilute This will help to control dysuria.
