Question: My son, 4.5 year old, facing bedwetting problem, from beginning. How should be treat such problem ?

Hi
Thanks for writing to us. Bed wetting is normal in kids up to 6 years . No need to worry . Bladder continence takes time , some kids may attain continence earlier but it varies from kid to kid .
Few tips I suggest to my patients
1. Avoid liquid intake of any kind after 7 pm. Even water shouldn’t be given after that time . Make sure dinner is over before that.
2 . Sleep early by 9 to 10 . Ask the child to urinate just before hitting the bed
3. Keep alarms at 12 midnight and 3 am . Wake up the child and make sure child goes walking to bathroom and urinates.
4. Avoid excessive sweets , chocolate and junk foods
5. Ensure good physical activity like running , cycling , sit ups at home during daytime .
