Question: My name is Anas (37/M) working for XXXXXXX Technologies in XXXXXXX I'm contacting you for a consultation for my wife (30/F). She started experiencing numbness in her both hands including fingers. There is some pain in her wrist, palm and fingers especially during morning hours when waking up. The numbness in her BOTH hands (fingers and wrist area) recurs even when cutting vegetables/fruits. Sometimes numbness intermittently recurs in her both hands during day time and causing pain when it comes. We seek your advice on this regard. Thank you

Hi Anas

Thanks for the query

The symptoms you have mentioned about your wife are consistent with Carpal tunnel syndrome of both hands.

This is due to compression of nerve in the wrist. She can wear wrist splint at night while sleeping for some relief. She needs to avoid repetitive movement of hands like typing.

It would be best to get out treated with pain killers and physiotherapy for some time. If no relief she can get steroid injections. If still no relief then a small operation to decompress the nerves can be done at the wrist.

I hope I have answered your query.

I will be available to answer your follow up queries.
