Question: My mother in law has been experiencing dizziness the last couple of days and now she is telling me that she has a metallic taste in her mouth. She does have Type 2 diabetes and heart problems. She does have a pacemaker and defibrillator. What do you suggest I do because she doesn't want to go to the ER willingly?

Detailed Answer:
Hello !

Welcome to Ask a Doctor service!

Regarding your concern, I would explain that her symptoms could be related to peripheral neuropathy.

Nevertheless, I would recommend checking her blood electrolytes, her blood pressure values and her iron plasma levels for possible deficiency.

Nerve conduction studies may be needed.

I don't think that this is an emergency, but consulting with her doctor for a physical exam and performing the above tests is necessary.

Hope you will find this answer helpful!
