Hi...
Welcome to 'Ask A Doctor' service.
I am Dr. Ajeet XXXXXXX

I have gone through your query and here is my opinion.

The usual cause of the feeling of palpitations, giddiness, pounding heart, increased heart rate, skipped beats and lightheadedness is an arrhythmia.

You need a workup in the form of thyroid profile, lipid profile, electrolyte levels, ECG and echo of the heart.

In some patients, a test called Holter monitoring and electrophysiological studies of the heart is indicated.
Kindly visit your cardiologist for further evaluation and management.

Hope that I have answered your query.
If you have any doubts, please let me know.

Stay healthy and stay blessed.
Regards

Detailed Answer:
Hi...
Welcome back.

Your diagnosis is very obvious....Mitral valve prolapse with dyslipidaemia.
You have skipped beats due to your cardiac ailments.

Arrhythmia are due to cardiac ailment and you have been optimally evaluated for it.
Pvc(premature ventricular contractions) or vpc(Ventricular premature complexes) occur when the ventricles (lower chambers of heart)contract before the atrium(upper ones). This makes normal heartbeat out of sync.
There would be a feeling of an extra beat followed by a pause(skipped beat) and then a normal heartbeat.

PVCs are absolutely benign, left as it is and are very common in elderly.
They need treatment only when they cause decrease blood pressure, syncope or any other deterioration.

You can reduce them by avoiding coffee, alcohol and tobacco.
Avoid heavy and greasy food.
Your doctor may prescribe you beta blocker group of drugs.
Ultimate option is Radio frequency catheter ablation.

Numbness of your hands does not seem to have any relation to your heart.
Regards.
