Question: My daughter is 9 years old (turns 10 in Jan). She started to change teeth a year or two ago but kind of stopped for the past year. She has 6 new teeth for now but nothing more seems to happen. is this too late? also her new front teeth may need braces but do we need to wait until all her teeth changed before getting braces? is there any guidance on age range for using braces? She sees dentist regularly and no other issues. Out dentist says she needs to wait but I hope to get other dentist opinions.
Thanks!

Brief Answer:
Nothing to be worried.its not late.

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for consulting Ask a doctor service
This is Dr. Priyanka tiwari answering your query.

I have read your query and understand your concern. As far as shedding of primary teeth and eruption of permanent teeth of your daughter is concern there is no delay . Eruption of permannet teeth is there by age 20 so this not too late . Need not to worry about that.

Secondly as you are asking about braces i would like to tell you your child is 9 years old and for braces treatment you have to wait. Your child is in mixed dentition period this time. Wait for permanent teeth to erupt then go for treatment .

Inmeantime consult your dentist reguraly for clinical examination and follow up regularly in 6months .

Hope this will help you.
If you have further query i will be happy to help.
