My Daughter Is 6 Years Old. She Went To Have

Question: My daughter is 6 years old.
She went to have a filling put in as there was a cavity 2 weeks ago.
We noticed that she was complaining when brushing her teeth and her gum started bleeding pretty much every night, so we contacted the dentist and today we took her in to get it checked.
Turns out the dentist, when putting in her filling previously, may have cut her gum, so it has caused an inflammation.
I do remember her having to try to put the filling in twice - in the top right molar.
She used a drill to remove the filling, and applied a solution to heal the area and has asked us to return in two weeks to put the filling back in.
Is this a normal occurrence? Should we be concerned? Should we take her to a different dentist for a second opinion? Not sure what to do. Can it get infected?

I have read your query and understand your concern. Bleeding and inflamation can be due to cut injury or due to tooth may be deeply infected .

Awating for your photos.

Thanks

Hi Doctor,

We were not given an xray of her teeth.
They did take an xray of her teeth before the filling 2 weeks ago, but did not give us a copy.
We have been brushing her teeth 2 times a day since she was a baby - and the cause of the cavity was due to the lack of flossing - we just didn't floss her teeth as she did not like it, so we thought that brushing was sufficient.
Should we go get an xray to see how infected her tooth is?

Brief Answer:
Consult dentist for new xray and clinical examination of tooth and gums.

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Welcome

I have read your reply. As you dont have xray there is no need to worry just upload pictures of gum and restored tooth that will be helpful for me to give you proper diagnosis.

Based on history you have given about your child i would say bleeding can be due to two causes it can be due to cut injury in gum or due to deeply infected tooth.

For this i will suggest : This is not normal occurence but need not to worry so much . Take your child to dentist again and ask for xray again of tooth and give history of bleeding.
New xray of tooth will reveal that infection is deep or initial and you will get the proper diagnosis.
If bleeding is from cut injury then you can apply ointment on gums like Rexidine M fort for healing two to three times a day by consuling with local doctor .

Hope this will help you.
If you can upload a picture that will be helpful for me to give you diagnosis.

Thanks

Brief Answer:
Seems like gum injury. Follow these measures.

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Welcome

I have gone through the image you have attached. As far as i have observed it looks like injury in gums and doesn't related to tooth infection.

For this i will suggest you to two measures
1- Apply ointmnet like Rexidine M forte or Gum paint cosulting with local doctor twice daily.
2- Do warm salt water rinses 2 to 3 times a day .

Follow these measures it will be helpful for your child and consult dentist for clinical oral exmination and xray if needed.

Hope this will help you .
If you have further query i will be happy to help .
