Brief Answer:
Auscultation is needed.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor service.
I read your query and here is my advice.

I think she is suffering a chest congestion.
It cant be said what it is exactly without a doctor listening to her lungs and heart also. Did the doctor listen (auscultate) her lungs?
Taking count that she doesn't have fever probably it isn't an infection.
If the pain started suddenly today it is strong you should send her to ER.
A doctor should (auscultate) listen to lungs to say exactly what it is.

Hope I have answered the question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
