Question: MY MOTHER IS SUFFERING FROM SLIGHT COLD AND COUGH SINCE 7 DAYS. AT THE MOMENT SHE HAS ONLY SLIGHT COUGH. SHE PERFORMED RTPCR YESTERDAY AND TODAY POSITIVE RESULT HAS COME WITH CT VALUE OF 19.34. PLEASE SUGGEST WHAT TO DO NOW. SHE IS TAKING MONTEK LC, FOURTS B AND LIMCEE SINCE 4 DAYS.

I have gone through your query. CT value in RTPCR shows the viral load. So a score of 17 to 24 shows a high viral load and she has to wear a mask and be isolated. She can continue the same medication and monitor her symptoms. If there is any other new symptom such as fever or breathlessness, or worsening of the symptoms then she need to start on antibiotics and best is to visit a nearby hospital as soon as possible.

Warm salt water gargling and mouth rinse thrice daily or after meal, Steam inhalation and deep breathing exercises for 20 minutes twice daily will also help.
