Last Monday Morning I Noticed An Irritation On My Thigh/buttocks,

default

Question: Last Monday morning I noticed an irritation on my thigh/buttocks, after a couple days it turned to blisters. I also had flu-like symptoms and a very swollen ground lymph node on that same side. Thursday I saw a doctor and today the test confirmed it is HSV. I had slept with my ex the week prior and had never had anything remotely close to this before. Is it more likely this is a new infection, or just as probable that I’ve had the infection for a long time and this is just the first symptomatic episode?

Brief Answer:
Most likely a new infection after sexual intercourse

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to ask a doctor service
I have gone through your query.
Most likely it seems to be a new infection contracted after sexual intercourse.
To be absolutely sure you need to get HSV ELISA IgG and IgM antibodies.
This will tell whether this is an old infection or a new infection.
