I've Recently Had Surgery On A Frecatured Cheekbone And Had
Question: I've recently had surgery on a frecatured cheekbone and had a metal plate inserted in my face. I am having a few issues since and can feel something in my mouth which I can spin round with my tongue, its located just behind my teeth, near the front teeth but on the side of my face with the injury. Is it possible for a screw to be that accessible? Is it dangerous if it is?

Based on the history you have shared, it can be due to healed fracture, or some remnant of the implant but the maxillofacial surgeon who has done it is in better position to comment about it.
However usually implants are removed after the surgery so screw is less likely to be in place. It can be part of healed bone underneath, which may feel like foreign body but it can be a step formed after healing. It's better to get repeat scans specially dental OPG as well as Mandibular PA view for reassurance.
Also after every dental procedure even scaling for few days tongue may feel to be in a foreign place as due to slightest changes in anatomy but usually after few weeks this sensation goes away and it adopts to the new arrangement.

I've gone through many thoughts of what it could be from a tooth issue to a screw... But today it feels so much softer than it had a I think it's just some gum damage....
However over the last 48 hours the swelling from my cheekbone seems to have moved higher and towards my eye socket. My lips are bruised nearly all the time and I think I have a black eye forming. Is this normal? Or worth seeing someone about promptly?

Thanks for the feedback however the current set of symptoms that you shared need a repeat review by a maxillofacial surgeon, as soon as possible, and X-ray facial bone, and paranasal sinuses and if unremarkable CT or MRI may be needed to rule out soft tissue inflammation, as it can extend to maxillary sinuses and extend upto orbits so should be ruled out.
Development of bruise or black eye also indicates underlying persistant inflammation which need to be reviewed.
Meanwhile anti inflammatory drugs like acetaminophen or Ibuprofen can be continued. Wishing you a speedy recovery. Regards
