Question: Do we have any tests which can determine chance being thalesemic carrier?


Asking this as one of my cousins has thalesimia.

Thanks for your query.

We have a test called hemoglobin HPLC in blood which can easily detect thalassemic carrier. If the hba2 is elevated in that then he or she is thalassemic carrier.

If two thalassemic carriers get married, then they can give birth to thalassemic major child.
