Is There Any OTC Medication To Treat Pain In My Hands, Knuckles, And Joints?

default
Posted on Thu, 7 Mar 2019
Question: I felt pain in my hands' knuckles and joins and knees when I sleep about 9 weeks ago. I also have a short memory issue as well. But I recall old memories without any issue. I took Tylenol, Advil but it did not help.
My questions are: What caused that kind of pain? What is the over counter medication to treat it?
Thank you Doctors

Brief Answer:
Can be due to arthritis.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

Repeated joint pains can be due to multiple causes at this age the commonest being polyarthralgia. Other causes can be rheumatoid arthritis, gout, inflammatory diseases like SLE, bursitis, fibromyalgia, low levels of vitamin D3 or calcium etc. For proper diagnosis, some of the blood tests are advisable like-
1. Serum calcium levels.
2. Serum Uric acid levels.
3. RA factor
4. ESR and CRP
5. Serum Creatinine
6. X-ray of affected joints.
Till then for symptomatic relief, you can take over the counter analgesics like Aleve and Tylenol, do hot fomentation and apply local analgesic gel on the affected areas. Taking regular calcium and vitamin D3 supplements will also help.

I hope this answers your query.

Wishing you good health.

Brief Answer:
Details below.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

You need Citracal Calcium +D3 Slow Release at least 1000mg daily. You can look for the voluntary USP (United States Pharmacopeia) symbol. This means that the product is free of lead and meets the standards of quality of elemental calcium and how well it dissolves. Do take cholecalciferol 60,000IU sachets once a week for proper Vitamin D3 supplementation.

Hope my answer is helpful.
