Brief Answer:
Details are provided below.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for getting back.

I agree with you that there is a risk of numbness of face after a surgical procedure, however, loss of motor function does not occur.

There are two procedures generally done to treat trigeminal neuralgia.

1. Radio-frequency ablation- In this, 80% of people get relief from pain, which is immediate relief. One day stay is needed and approximate cost is twenty five thousands rupees only.

2. Microvascular decompression (MVD)- 95% people get relief from pain, which is immediate. 5 days stay is needed and approximate cost is two lakhs rupees only.

Relief is long lasting in both procedures.

Best wishes,

Radio frequency ablation I think will be fine.in case of recurrence, can it be repeated after some years?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Sudhir Kumar (18 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
Generally, it is not repeated.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for getting back.

If radio-frequency ablation fails, it is generally not repeated. This is because there is a chance of failure, even after it is repeated.
