Posted on Tue, 28 Nov 2023
Question: Hello,
My name is Elena and I’m 36 years.
A month and a half ago I had a colonoscopy. A polyp was removed. It was tubular adenoma, it was benign. Everything was fine otherwise.
I don’t have hemorrhoids as they were treated with sclerotherapy.
Today I have noticed a little bit of blood mixed with mucus. It was pink. I was straining myself.
Where might the bleeding coming from.
What should I do next.

Thank you in advance!

Haematochezia if symptoms persists proctoscopy necessary

Mam after operation usually there could be some bleeding and some torturous veins would be bleeding so only they would have prescribed you sclerotherapy and some time it does bleed don't worry. It was bright red only right? If so then it's haematochezia and not malaena that means bleeding is from lower part of intestine not upper part. If these episodes occur 2-3 times then you get one proctoscopy done to rule out any haemorrhoids or fissure or any bleeding torturous veins. For now don't worry at all. Drink lot of water and liquid diet or semi solid diet is preferred with no spices and outside foods. Eat lot of vegetables and fruits. Don't eat pulses more. Feel free to ask any questions if you have.

Brief Answer:
For only one episode colonoscopy not necessary

Detailed Answer:
Mam proctoscopy or colonoscopy doesn't matter. Proctoscopy is done in out patient procedure it examines only rectum if you have any problems. If you have problems little above it then you have to get colonoscopy done. That your treating doctor will take decision any general surgeon you need to show for examination mam.

If you don't get repeated episodes then don't worry about only one episode. Feel free to ask questions if you have any doubts. I hope this info helps you sort out your problems and if you feel its helpful kindly give me user thank vote happy health !
