Is It Safe To Have Chlorophenanine Along With Nitrazepam?

Question: I took 5mg of nitrazepam ten mins ago to help me sleep. Today I visited my brother and he has a long haired cat. I was playing with her quite a bit and have felt my eyes red and itchy and my nose feels a bit irritated and I am sneezing - I think it must be a reaction to the cats long hair. Anyways I took a chlorphenanine 4 mg tab about an hour ago. It has helped a lot but my wife just pointed out that I shouldn't have also taken the nitrazepam as it might be a dangerous combination. I am now slightly worried. Please advise!

Hello,
benzodiazepines like nitrazepam and antihistamine drugs should better not be taken together. They both cause sleepiness. Taking a single pill from each will likely cause only drowsiness, but nothing more than that. I hope you haven't consumed alcohol! Alcohol has an additive effect on both substances.
You should avoid activities that require good balance and responses like driving for example until you feel OK again.
If you don't have other medical issues (like respiratory problems) then do not worry. Just stay safe until their effect is over.
