Question: Is it possible to test positive for strep throat if you have oral gonorrhea or chlamydia instead? Do they use the same test when they check for Strep Throat vs. Oral Gonorrhea or Chlamydia? What is the likeliness of receiving oral gonorrhea or chlamydia?

Brief Answer:
Regarding risk of oral STDs

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to ask a doctor service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Tests for gonorrhoea and chlamydia are specific to only these. They don't cross react to streptococci or vice versa. A test should be positive only if one has a particular infection tested for. The likelihood of acquiring oral gonorrhoea or chlamydia from an act of unprotected oral sex on an infected partner is low as compared to vaginal sex.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if you need any more assistance.
