Question: I'm a 66 yr old male with a history of BPH and urinary frequency. I take alfuzosin daily as well as losarten(50mg) atorvastatin (10mg) esomeprazole (20mg) vit D, glucosamine, baby aspirin cialis(5mg). My pharmacist expressed some concern(arrythmia) about taking alfuzosin with 10mg Vesicare which i took 2.hrs ago. I had taken 5mg Vesicare for 6 mos over 1 yr ago without problems while also taking alfuzosin. I forgot to split the pill in half when I took it 2 hours ago. Is it OK to take the alfuzosin? I have occasional frequency bissues and was diagnosed with OAB a few yrs ago. I occasionally have a flareup.I have no retention issues and my psa is 1.19. Thanks for your help!

Brief Answer:
It is better to delay by 6 hours

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

Yes, there is a concern about QT prolongation when both are being taken together. So it's important that you get your ECG done. So basically we have to monitor ECG for QT prolongation and if it's not there then you may have it.

At present, since we don't know regarding your ECG status, just to be on safer side, it's better to delay consumption of Alfuzosin by 6-8 hours as their peak level will each at different times.

Hope this helps you and get back if you have any doubts.
