Is An Anti Rabies Vaccine Required For A Toddler Who Petted A Stray Cat?
Question: Hi,
My 3 years old son touched a cat that roams around our apartment complex. I was not there at that point but my wife tells me that while he patted the cat on her/ his back, it didn't lick, bit or scratched him. As I am very afraid of rabies, I have been asking her whether the cat bit or scratched or licked him. This incident happend in March 2018.
My wife was 2 feet away from him and watching him all the time he was patting the cat. My question to you is this: Do I have to give him anti-rabies injection? My father is a doctor and I know that touching a cat or dog is STAGE 1 exposure and doesn't need any anti-rabies injection.
But, I still want to consult a doctor. So, should I give him an anti-rabies injection even though this incident happened a couple of months ago.
I'm looking forward to your answer.
Regards,
XXXX

Hi,
Yesterday, one of my friends 3 years old son has been bitten by a dog. What vaccines should be administered on him apart from anti-rabies five shot? Doctors have prescribed Equirab - antirabies immunoglobulin. Should it be administered on thigh? Will there be any side effects? Please recommend.
