Brief Answer:
it is important to take jakafi tablet

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for writing to HCM .

Myelofibrosis manifest in older people. The curative treatment for it is stem cell transplant / bone marrow transplant. But since your age is 82 such aggressive therapy can't be done.

So you are prescribed jakafi(content ruxolitinib). This helps in reducing Myelofibrosis symptoms and also reduce enlarged spleen if you have.

It is mainly a supportive drug not curative. It prolongs the disease course and increase symptom free period. So it is must for you to continue jakafi as prescribed.

Hope I have answered your query . If any further queries are there I would love to help.

Regards
