Question: I think I may have tinnitus but rather than ringing, I hear what appears to be music. It continues to repeat for several hours at a time but then fades away, only to repeat later in the day. Is there a type of tinnitus that has this characteristic? Is there a medical name for this condition? What medical specialist should I see to help with this condition?

Brief Answer:
Visit an ENT to help with conditions.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,
I read your query and here is my advice.
I don't think there is a certain disease that causes that type of tinnitus like music.
The sense that you have that come and fades I think depends of your concentration on it.
I think it may come die to wax accumulated in ear canal so you should meet an ENT for this.
Sometimes tinnitus comes with aging and this is called pressbiacussia. Also if you used to work in noisy environment.
Visit an ENT.
Hope I have answered the question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Thanks
