I Recently Purchased A New Set Of (hard) Contact Lenses

Question: I recently purchased a new set of (hard) contact lenses for my near-sightedness because my current contacts had become too dirty. Unfortunately, with the new contacts I am unable to see very well up close. For instance, if I'm wearing them I can't read a book or magazine, and I also have a hard time making out what's on the computer screen. I did not have this problem with my previous set of contacts, which I only stopped wearing a couple of weeks ago. I also do not have this problem when I'm wearing my glasses (which are for near-sightedness). Is it possible that the prescription I was given after my recent eye exam is wrong, or that there is something wrong with the new contacts?

Brief Answer:
The presciption could be different sir

Detailed Answer:
Hey thanks for the question. Do you have your old and new prescription so that we can compare the change in the power . If the glasses are comforatble the lenses should be as they are made as per the refractive error of the patient only . Hope my answer helps you . Regards .

I will contact the eye wear store tomorrow (Monday) to ask them for my old contact lens prescription so we can compare it to the new one.

Can you elaborate a little bit on your answer? Did you mean that if I can see up close with my glasses then I should be able to see up close with my new contacts?

Brief Answer:
Yes the numbers are always comparable

Detailed Answer:
Hey thanks for the follow up. An optometrist always gives comparable number for the glasses and contact lenses and they should work if the power is correct. Hope it helps . Regards

Hmm, okay. Like I said, I will contact the eye care store on Monday. They should be able to provide me with my old prescription for my contacts. I doubt they will have the specifications for my glasses since I have had them for many years, but I can ask.

My understanding is that an eye exam for contacts is different from an eye exam for glasses. At least, that's what they told me at the eye care store.

Brief Answer:
A machine called lensimetre can tell your glasses number in a second

Detailed Answer:
Hey thanks for the follow up . As i said lensimeter can tell your spectacle power in a second . And no need of separate testing. The error of the eye is determined by a retinoscopy test dear and based on it we can determine both spectacle and contact lens power by a chart . No need of repeat testing . Hope it helps . Regards

Thank you. So when I call the eye care store on Monday, what exactly should I ask them for?

Brief Answer:
If you are calling them they will be able to tell whatever data they have

Detailed Answer:
Hey thanks for the question. If you are calling them they will be able to tell you only whatever data they have with them . Ask for the contact lens power and make and maybe if they have your old data then power of the spectacles . Hope it helps . Regards
