Brief Answer:
2 years is good

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using 'Ask A Doctor' service...

It is understandable to be concerned regarding the presence of mucus but a small amount of mucus is normally found in the bowel.
Excess mucus can be seen if the bowels are irritated or inflamed for some reason as in an infection of the bowel or irritable bowel syndrome or other condition.

Cancer of the colon takes a long time to develop, it takes years for the changes to occur. This is the reason that colonoscopy is scheduled every 10 years if there is a strong family history of colonic cancer then every 5 years.

Even if there is a family of cancer, you would still be covered since you were screened 2 years ago.

The mucus should resolve, it is likely related to the recent inflammation or irritation of your bowel. If it worsens, using a bland diet for a few days may help you.

I hope this helps,
