Brief Answer:
stool softener, pain meds, sitz baths

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Hemorrhoids can sometimes be painful to deal with.

Treatment: (1)stool softener so that you do not need to strain with your bowel movements eg ducolax

With each movement, you should use flushable wipes to dab not wipe since wiping would further irritate the area

(2)pain medication such as ibuprofen or naproxen or cataflam- one of these can be used, would reduce pain and swelling

(3)warm sitz baths, 2 to 3 times a day for 10 to 15 mins, salts can be added to the water

(4)topical medication such as lidocaine gel would help to reduce your discomfort

(5)avoid prolonged standing and use a cushion when sitting

to avoid future episodes would need to make sure to use enough fluids and fiber , if constipation/straining is your trigger. At least 5 servings of fruits and vegetables daily, a fiber supplement can also be used.

In some persons, persistent coughing is the trigger and this can also be treated by identifying the cause .

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions

Thank you. I will be sure to add more fluid and fiber to my diet. I finally had a good bowel movement this morning and the hemoriods are going away.

I don't usually have constipation so didn't think of my straining to poop could be involved. I will follow your advice to prevent this again.
