I Have Had This On My Tongue For Over Two

default
Posted on Fri, 19 Apr 2019
Question: I have had this on my tongue for over two years. im not sure how much bigger it has gotten. It has not changed much. Is this geographic tongue? Some sort of HPV? Could it be cancerous? It is flat and painless. The only spot that is not flat is on the top closest to my throat a small raised nodule.

Brief Answer:
Biopsy should be done to evaluate further as lesion is since 2 year.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to the 'Ask A Doctor service'.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advise.

I have seen your attached image of tongue lesion.
It can be leukoplakia or lichen planus like lesion.

It doesn't seem to be geographic tongue or HPV infection.

Your lesion is since two year and you are not much aware regarding increase or decrease in size of lesion.
So it's better to get small biopsy of lesion and send it for histopathology examination.

The histopathology examination will give correct diagnosis and will help in rule out malignancy.

You can revert back with report once done.

Hope I have answered your question.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Best regards.
