Question: I have been having black stools for the past 2 days. The smell seems normal. I have eaten some fairly spicy chili. should I do something now?

Black stools indicate bleeding from the upper gastrointestinal tract.
But the stool will also be tarry in consistency, sticky, smelly and shiny. If these features are not there, you can ignore it. If these features are also present, you need immediate medical attention.

Black stools can also occur if you are taking iron supplements or pepto bismol/bismuth. But the other features I have mentioned above will not be present.
