Question: I have been diagnosed with GERD. Endscope shows no signs of esophogus problems or ulcers in the stomach. for the last 45 days i have ate very little and what i did eat was plain like vegetables grilled chicken banana oatmeal. As well i take nexium 40 2x per day, before breakfast and dinner. Are there any other suggestions to help with the pain in my chest and throat? As well now every time i eat my stomach rumbles right away.

Brief Answer:
worthwhile to start prokinetic agents...

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I went through the details with diligence. The chest and throat pain is common with GERD. The pain here seems more like burning sensation and irritation in the throat. Do you feel the same?

Though nexium is a good drug to treat GERD, I would prefer to start a prokinetic agent like domperidone / ondansetron along with it. The combination is more effective in treating chest and throat pain which occurs with GERD. You can discuss with the treating doctor.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you need clarifications.

Regards
