Question: I have been diagnosed as having Alopecia Areata. I have tried natural methods to reduce hair lose and Fluocinonide & Lidex gel , and injections for hair growth, Kenalog. None of which has helped. Every time I brush or comb my hair I lose hair. It is now very thin. I looked up XXXXXXX Christians from XXXXXXX Univ. ,and she invented a JAK inhibitor “Janus Kinases” Nuxolitnib treatment, which she claims regrows the hair. I would like to find a Dermatologist in XXXXXXX area that uses this treatment. Who can you suggest?

Brief Answer:
Use minoxidil topically.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor service.
I read your query and here is my advice.

I think you should do some more examinations such Anti ANA antibodies to check for lupus because it may be a cause of alopecia areata. Lupus, edema and other conditions may cause hair loss.
In this case methotrexate can be used for hair loss but since you talked with doctor about Nuxolitnib a biological drug, you can continue with it.
Using minoxidil topically will have good results.
You can talk to a dermatologist in XXXXXXX to help you and one of the best is XXXXXXX Berg, M.D., skin cancer, Mohs surgery, laser surgery; The Polyclinic, Mohs Surgery, 1229 XXXXXXX St., Suite 1090, XXXXXXX 206.860.5595.

Hope I have answered the question.
