Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for consulting Ask a doctor service.
This is Dr.Priyanka tiwari answering your query.

I have read your query and understand your concern. As far as swelling of face is concerned this can be due to soft tissue trauma during extraction. As you have undergone extraction yesterday so dont worry it is a normal part of healing process it is not because of infection it will not kill you. Swelling will subside in 7 days.

I will suggest you to take proper rest .
-Increase your water and fluid intake .
-Take medication that is prescribed by your dentist and do warm saline rinses 3 to 4 times a day .
- Visit your dentist for clinical examination of extraction socket after 5 days .

Hope this will help you.
If you have further query i will be happy to help.

Thank you so very much. I'm still sore today and having pain but not as bad as yesterday.
I have worried myself completely sick. My face a head is tingly, I also notice I'm swelled under jaw too like my throat. It hurts a little to swallow. Well I looked it up, and I found where it could be ”Deep Neck Indection” from the extraction. Is this possibly what I have? The website said it was a deadly infection. Also what would be symptoms of it?

Brief Answer:
Nothing to be worried so much no deep neck infection.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome

I have gone through the attachments you have attached . You have undergone extraction of molar tooth and i have seen in picture your socket is healing so there is nothing to be worried for socket healing.

2. As far as swelling of face is concerned i have seen in pictures you have attached you have minimal swelling . It is not uncommon to have swelling around the mouth, cheeks, side of your face. . The swelling may persist for several days, which is a normal reaction to the extraction of molar tooth.

You have no symptoms of deep neck infection so dont think about it.

Follow post extraction instructions given by your dentist. and follow these given measures :
- Elevate your head
Try to keep your head above your heart and sit upright. When lying down, use a couple of pillows to elevate your head. This can help to alleviate the swelling.

-Take pain relievers precribed by your dentist. Pain relievers can lessen any discomfort, as well as help decrease swelling.

-Apply a warm compress
The swelling peaks at around day 2 or 3. Applying a warm compress for 20 minutes on and 20 off can reduce the swelling at this stage. The warm compress can also help to fade any discolouration of your skin, which occasionally occurs as the swelling subsides.

-Also, begin to use salt water rinses to help kill bacteria and ease swelling but avoid spitting.

-Eat a soft food or liquid diet
Yoghurts, applesauce, and smoothies are good food options following an extraction. They are easy to eat when your mouth and face are swollen. They are also nutritious.

Hope this will help you
If you have further query i will be happy to help.
